Beauty La Linda - Lifestyle || Midweek Motivation || Slaying it 2017 || Procrastination - The Enemy of Productivity!

Hey Friends,

Ok so I'm going to be real. Today I woke up feeling like I have no motivation to do anything. I feel like the Bruno Marz Soundtrack should be playing in the backround of my life "Today I don't feel like doing anything...I just wana lay in my bed" As I was indeed lying in my bed thinking of all the reasons why I didn't have time to be productive today, how I didn't have a post ready & all that I thought to myself I need to get up off my ass & get in the productive mood again!! This procastination isn't helping anyone, least of all me!!

I like to think of myself as a self-motivated person but the truth is I'm not as self-motivated as I thought. I'm a really easy going boss, to myself atleast. In the past I have been in charge in work-places & in that environment I can be hella Productive & get shizz done. However I have realised when I don't have to get up at a certain time, be ready & leave for work I slack off. Not having a routine really messes with me as in my head I just think "ah its fine. I can do it later" However what I fail to remember is that if I had done it when I was supposed to I wouldn't be doing what feels like over-time, eating in to my personal time with family & friends.

At the moment my life is a bit chaotic if I'm honest (if you read my monthly highlights - January, then you will know what I'm talking about) so I can't be too hard on myself, truthfully I'm quite proud of how much I have accomplished in the past month, considering. However now is the time to get back in action. My new year, when it comes to goals, starts now!! I guess its just harder to get started then I thought. So I thought I would share some of my tips for overcoming procrastination & I would really love & appreciate it if you could leave any of your tips in the comments below as I really need to get out of this slump. Send all your slump busters my way!!

Tips for overcoming procrastination

1. Why am I procrastinating??
I think if you know the answer to this you can fix it quicker. Is there a reason behind your procrastination. Undermotivated? Overwhelmed? Tired? Sick of your job? Need a change? Laziness? Find out your reason, then figure out a solution to help keep you on track.

2. Remember your goals
I did this, this morning. I really didn't want to get started, which to be honest I think is the hardest part. I started thinking about all my goals for this year and all the reasons I started blogging in the first place!! I also thought of how happy & proud I was going to feel this evening when it was all done. My end goal is to be my own boss, whether that be with blogging or any other venture I may have so I thought to myself if that's the case I better get over myself fairly lively or I will never make it!! The best boss I have to be, is to myself!

3. Think of how far you have already come
Another thing that might get your butt moving is to think of how far you have come. Think of where you were when you started! Now think of where you are now! Do you want to keep going!? Now think of where you can be in a month/years time! Don't you want to find out? Don't you want to know what that feels like?

4. Go through the wall
Sometimes our procrastination can be based around mundane daily chores & errands that we all know have to be done but exactly fit into our goals for life. Well they do we just don't realise it. I mean think of all the chores & errands you run on a daily/weekly basis. Right now take them all away... what would your life look like... exactly. All things keep us ticking over but lets be honest they can be a drag. For these I tend to use the
  • Timing method

I set a timer for a certain length of time to tackle one chore. Whatever I can get done in that time gets done, Whats left can be left until tomorrow. However with this method you will find that either A. You are more productive & quicker as you will naturally race against the clock or B. once you get started you won't care about the timer and end up doing the chore until it is completed.

  • Make  a list

I think once you make a to-do list you automatically feel like you are being more productive (procrastination in disguise) however if you use the list & tick off all the items along the way it can be a very satisfying feeling.

  • Get started

I always think just get started & you'll be fine. Starting is the hardest part! Once you get over the first 5/10 mins, you're off! & generally there's no stopping you then.

  • Reward System

Sometimes there's just no getting past it! The spoilt child comes out in all of us and we want a reward for doing what (realistically) we should be doing anyway. Sometimes however thats all that will get us moving. Like I have told myself that after I complete this post I am going relax with a nice cup of tea & a doughnut for my lunch. Don't get me wrong I love blogging with all my heart but sometimes I wish I could just talk and the computer would do the rest of the work #laziness & today is one of those days #bloggerproblems. Just like my reward of tea & a doughnut, you rewards dont have to be big or extravagant they just have to get the job done!

4. Watch or read motivating material
I find that when I'm in a slump if I watch motivating Youtube videos or read inspiring blog posts they I feel ready to take on the world, like "I want a piece of that action!" I find watching or reading about other peoples success very motivating!! If you haven't tried it before give it a go & let me know what you think!!

Those are all my tips to get you through a period of procrastination, where all your ideas & thoughts are filled with good and productive intent but you can't seem to get off the couch or stop watching re-runs of reality TV like TOWIE & The Jersey Shore #guilty. However by the time this day is out I will have made out a proper routine for myself for the upcoming weeks & see if that helps, what feels like a constant 3pm slump!

Don't forget to leave you helpful hints below for me in the comments!!

Beauty La Linda - Lifestyle || Slaying it 2017 || 5 Tips on staying motivated & on track!!

Hey there Friends!,

In the past month I have been talking a lot about goals for the year! What better time to take a moment to look at your life & where you would like to be in 12 months time? The tips I am going to talk to you about today not only apply to short term, yearly goals but can also be applied to long term goals like buying a house, financial goals, health goals, work or business goals.... etc..

I have touched on this over the past couple of weeks if you would like to read those posts all the links will be below!! So here are my tips on staying motivated and on track when it comes to your goals and resolutions!!

Get Visual

I find that if you have your goals displayed and you are surrounded by them then its easier to keep them fresh and at the fore front of your mind. This means even sub-consciously working towards them everyday. You will start making decisions based around your goals!! You can try making a vision board. I haven't tried this yet but it is definitely something I am interested in trying. There are many Youtubers that show you how to make some really great boards. I think you should write your goals everywhere, In your home, office, on your phone, laptop / tablet, anywhere where you will see them everyday & have no way of forgetting them.

List makers

This is for all my fellow planners and daily list makers out there. If you plan your months, weeks & days don't forget to add them in. If you have told yourself that you are going to set 10 mins a day to something, add it into your planner. Always be aware of your goals when planning your life... how else will you work to achieve them.

Track, Track, Track

Always be tracking your progress. Try not to let it consume your life but at the same time if you always have an idea of where you are with your goal then you will always not only know how far you have left to go but even more important how far you have come since you started & that's always motivating!!

Reward

When achieving most goals there will always be milestones. These milestones must be rewarded!! That way you can build up momentum. There is no better feeling than rewarding yourself for something you know you have worked for and you truely deserve! The pride, happiness, & victory you feel is one of the most motivating things in the world. You feel ready to take on the world!!

Don't Give up!

During every Journey (Just like life) there will always be set backs. It's going to happen one way or another. These moments are going to be the toughest and define your success. You have to roll with the punches, pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get back in the ring. Keep going, re-adjust, if theres something you really want then there's not that much that can put a complete stop to it apart from you! You are the only thing standing in your own way! Remember that!

These are just a few tips I have for staying motivated. Its not easy but it can be done with a little hardwork and perseverance. I believe in all of you!! Please leave me a comment with any tips of your own! I would love to hear them. I always enjoying hearing new tips on how to stay on track with my goals!!

BeautyLaLinda - Lifestyle || Slaying it 2017!! || Tips to Sticking to & Achieving your Goals!!

Hello Friends,

Its that time of the year again!! By now you probably have your goals & resolutions in your head & you know what you would like to achieve in to 2017! If you would like to check out mine you can click on the link here - Goals & Resolutions 2017

Its all well and good having ideas & goals if you then never bother to try and achieve them... or worse you start off really good and then lose momentum after a week. Believe me, we have all been there! I too have fallen into the trap!! All happy and ready to rock & roll but a couple of weeks in and I can't even remember what my goals were in the first place. However in recent years I have become better and better with this! I have a few tips that might give you the hand you need to get you to the finish line.

Idea time!

First off, grab yourself a piece of paper and a pen and write down what you want to achieve. It doesn't matter how big or small they are just get them out of your head and onto paper. I think in a wierd way sometimes when you write things down they almost feel more real. For example if you have been thinking I really want to learn to sew, then it's a nice thought but that's all it is a thought, however once you write it down it feels more like a commitment, more real. It feels like if it was important enough to write it down then it is important enough to put the time and energy into achieving it! Make your goals as broad or as specific as you like as long as you have them on paper.

Get Real!

Now you have them all in front you now is the time to get specific. Make it more realistic. If you have "lose some weight" written down then now look at it and say it to yourself, how much? By when? If you want learn a language. Then ask yourself, what language? By when? Why? Make them all more specific so you know exactly what you are working towards and when you have achieved what you have set out to do!

Make a plan!

Right! You got your goals, you know your targets now what? Now you have to make your plan to get you there right!? So you want to learn Italian? Look up all the classes in your area, see if any of them fit your time schedule & will work for you. Buy phrase books, Download Apps, Get books on audible, use the internet & all its glory to your advantage. Next decide the timing. If you have classes that will already put you on a schedule, however if you also have apps or audible books or regular books then decide to maybe put 10 mins aside each day to listen, read or interact with the app. Soon this will become routine to you!

Calm Down!

I know how easy it is to get all caught up with resolution madness!! I, myself have fallen victim to it. However I honestly believe that it is the quickest path to failure! If you start running before you can walk you will fall and hurt yourself and forever become discouraged. You will start thinking negative things like "It will never happen for me!" "I can't do this! It's just too hard!" "I give up! I'll start again Next year!" My advice is to start off nice and slow. Stay consistent! If you forget a day or get a knock back, get up dust yourself off and keep going! Remember although it has become customary to create goals and resolutions at the start of each year, you can create a goal on any day of the week and start a new journey! Its all about perspective and perseverance. If its not happening as quick as you thought you may need to adjust your goal strategy but it will work out in the end if you really want it to!!

Be Accountable

Track your progress along the way and the last thing you will want to do is stop! Make these visual, have them wherever you think you will see them most! There's nothing more satisfying then seeing how much you have done and how well you are doing. If you don't think you can do this alone get a buddy! If someone else you know wants to accomplish the same thing team up!! Twice the fun! Tell people if you want others to hold you accountable. Whether they mean to or not they are bound to ask how you are getting on and you want to be able to tell them you are smashing it!! You guys keep me accountable as I always tell you at the beginning of the year my goals & resolutions, then I do a review around June & then again at the end of the year but I don't generally tell many people in my daily life as I like to work quietly on them by myself. I find it alot more pressure to tell people!

Reward Yourself

Within accomplishing almost any goal there are many smaller goals that join together to create the ultimate goal. I think if you make many little goals that lead you to the greater goal they automatically seem more attainable. I think if you reward yourself when you achieve your goals it will help you to stay on track as you will be able to see exactly how far you have actually come.  For example you stick out the Italian all year then why not plan an Italian holiday to put all your hard work to good use!!

Dream & Work Hard

Thats pretty much it! If you really want it you can do it! Nobody else is going to do it for you! Just think if you start now where you could be this time next year! You can do it my friends, I believe in you!

Leave me a comment below letting me know what you hope to accomplish in the next 12 months & also if you have any tips of your own on how to achieve your goals and resolutions!!

BLL Lifestyle || Blogmas #4 Dealing with Holiday Stress & Anxiety

Hey Friends,

Tis the season of Parties, Family Gatherings, Gift buying and giving, Festive movie nights in with hot chocolate & sweet treats, christmas markets & food glorious food! All sounds pretty wonderful doesn't until of course the panic sets in "Have I got time to get everything I need?!", "Or do everything I need to do!", "Have I forgot anyone's gift!?", "I'm really not looking to seeing so and so!", "I don't even want to look at my bank account!!"

Yes it may be the most wonderful time of the year but it can also be the most stressful & sometimes for someone with an anxious mind like me it can be a little too much. Don't get me wrong its still my favourite time of the year but sometimes I need to take a breathe just so I don't get too stressed out. Here are a couple of things I like to do so that the holiday season doesn't become a little too much!!!

As an anxious person in general life can be tough at the best of times but this time of year I have to say I myself feel the pressure of Christmas looming upon me. Ironically its my favourite time of year even though the stress levels can sky rocket. I have to put measures in place or atleast try and remember certain things when I feel the stress building. Here are a few of my tips -

  • Planning - I have already talked about this in the past couple of days so if you missed out all the links are below. Ok lets be real, Its pretty much impossible to be planned to perfection because life isn't perfect. Not everything is going to go your way but if you are somewhat organised at least when some unexpected things crop up or go wayward then they won't seem as big or stressful.
  • Breathe - Seems simple right? It's not. Its wierd but for something we do unconsciously from the day we are born, we seem to forget it alot (I know I do) Sometimes life can seem too much! & When it does take a minute and concentrate on your breathing soon you will feel calmer. It might sound crazy but believe me it works.
  • Ground Yourself - Sometimes with all that hussle and bussle it's easy to get swept up in it. That is the intention of marketers, Shop owners & product producers - Get caught up and spend more. Unfortunately this means it can take you away from real life a little bit. We forget that Christmas is just (technically) one day! So we get flustered and stressed!! Thinking irrational thoughts of how everything will be ruined if we don't get a certain gift for someone or the food or the decorations just right! I find going out in nature for a while helps.. away from the lights and music and advertising. Out into the woods or just out in the fresh air. It really helps to clear your head before you get back into the ring for round 2!
  • Have "ME" Time - Sometimes we forget to take care of ourselves and by this I mean our mind and soul. All that stress is just no good. Try to balance it out by taking some time, even 10 minutes, Just to do something for you, Watch your favourite TV show, Read a book, Go for a walk, Have a bath... Whatever it is that makes you feel like you again!
  • Sleep! - In my opinion this is the most important tip!! Sleep is essential to our mental health and overall well being. While we are sleeping we are recovering our body and mind, repairing and renewing! Every stress and problem increases ten fold when we are tired. After a good nights sleep we are more likely to be able to problem solve and mutli-task and just take on whatever life throws at us in general! #winningatlife. Ever since developing anxiety sleep is the one thing I try to never compromise on! No time to get 8 hours? Nap! You are never to old to nap! 40 winks and you will be fighting fit!
  • Eat Right! - Sometimes we can be so busy we forget to eat, this takes its toll on your body. How are you expected to be at your peak when your in full throttle mode if your body is running on fumes! Give it the best fighting chance you can! The best way to take on Christmas is with all guns blazing, that means body, mind & soul!

These are my 6 six tips for taking on the stresses of the holidays! Please leave me any of your tips in that comments as I would love to read them!!

BLL Lifestyle || Blogmas #3 Budget friendly Christmas!!

Hello everyone,

Its Day 3 in the Blogmas house and today Linda has come to the diary room to talk to her amazing readers about having a budget friendly Christmas!!

Hey friends. Day 3 already huh? where is the time flying to?? If you want to catch up with what I am doing day to day during this holiday season then be sure to follow me on instagram where I will be posting up photos of my whereabouts and goings on!! You can click here - @beauty_la_linda (Instagram) or by clicking the link in the side bar.

Today we are going to talk about how to have a cracking christmas without breaking the bank balance. There are many ways to cut costs but it has a lot to do with planning!! Here are a 8 tips I have for saving a bit of cash at this time of year! -

  1. Start your Christmas shopping as early as possible! This goes for food, pressies, decor... anything you might need. The earlier you know what you will need, the more you can take advantages of sales and in-store promotions. Although it is too late now, next year think about gifts and things in November and use Black Friday and Cyber Monday to your advantage.
  2. Shop around. If there is an item on your list that is pretty pricy then shop around before you make a purchase! Remember this is one of the most competitive times of the year for shops and goods so make the most of it.
  3. Use coupons. Coupons are an excellent way of saving a bit of cash where ever you can find them. If you are buying something online then google or Youtube a coupon code for that item... you never know what might turn up. You can even use websites that give you cash back on your online purchases!!
  4. Take advantage of store offers. This time of year stores go crazy with offers, trying to persuade the consumer to shop with them. If its a store that you like with a promotion that you like, take advantage.... triple points with Boots? Yes please.
  5. Get Crafty. Why pay more for what you can do yourself. If you have any creative talents then put them to good use! You want cute holiday cards or gift wrap? Make em! You want cookies and brownies? Bake em! Not sure how to make something, then Google, Youtube & Pintrest are always ready and waiting to rescue you. Also you friends and family will love the home-made touches!! #heartwarming
  6. Go Generic. You don't need to spend top dollar on food for a delicious meal. Why pay E3 for a bottle of ketchup when you could 59c for an off-brand that tastes exactly the same. Also if you are making you food from scratch it will also come out cheaper (again this requires time and talent though) Don't dismiss generic brands, 9 times out 10 they preform exactly the same they will just cost you less.
  7. Be realistic with yourself. So you have already bought your sister 4 gifts but you spot a cute purse or something. Take a breathe, and be realistic. Is it in your budget? Does she really need it? Can you return one of your other gifts or swap it out to someone else? Remember your budget only works for you if you work the budget!!
  8. Cash all the way! This tip is only for night out celebrations. Don't take cards out with you. Remember drunk you always has more money than sober you. So if you think there is going to be a chance that you are going to get flashy with the card leave it safely tucked up at home. Future you will thank past you, believe me!!

There are 8 little tips on how to save the casholla when feeling festive and footloose!! If you have any of your own please share them on the comment section below!! I think everyone of us would love more tips on how to save a little money so we are not completely cleaned out my 2017!

Midweek Motivation || When It rains It Pours....

Heya!

Why is it everything always seems to come at once!? Bills, deadlines, random issues, personal issues, weddings or events that are going to cost you a bomb! At the moment Im dealing with a raining/pouring situation!

The reason I want to talk about this today is because, once again I am sure I am not the only one in this situation! It can get a bit over whelming & hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. However we must train ourselves to think differently about our situation for many reasons -
  1. While we are wishing for it all to be over we are also wishing our life, away without realising it. We are never going to be this age or have this time ever again!
  2. Because we become so focused on the things we have to fix (Yes they are important & do need attention) we are missing out on all the great things that are happening at the same time!! We are forgetting to appreciate people, places & the general good things happening in each of our lives.
  3. Stress is not good for anyone! & if you anything like me your anxiety will sky rocket!! This can not only take its toll on you mentally but also physically too!! (I have a knot in my back that I CANNOT get rid of!)

Here are a few tips I have for dealing with times like this

  • Dedicate a certain amount of time to go through all the problems you are currently having. Write out a list of things you need to fix, do or organise & then write down any solutions or plans of action to resolve them.
  • Apart from this time try not to think about it unless you can do something about it. Easier said than done I agree but the less you over think about it the more likely things will naturally just happen and every now & then they will actually fall in your favour!
  • If some thing seems unachievable then set small goals & before you know it that main goal you had in the beginning will suddenly be much more achievable.
  • Take down time for you. Do something that makes you happy or relaxed even if its just for half an hour! You will feel a little more refreshed and much better after it (For me one of these things is writing)
  • Try & get sleep. Your body, mind & soul repair themselves at night! When times are stressful you need all the help you can get so dont skimp on the sleep. It will help you cope with stress & important decision making & organisation skills during the day!
  • Eat well! Again easier said than done but the better the fuel the better the performance!
  • Stop comparing your life! We live in a social media world which means we all fall victim to the green eyed monster! We are especially vulnerable when things in our own lives may not be going so well. This is not at time to feel sad & jealous, this is a time to feel motivated & inspired by these people!!
  • Realise that most things in life are not life and death therefore, like everything else this will too pass and more than likely in a few months time you wont even remember this!
  • Take a moment and think about all that you do have and all that you are grateful for. If you do this I guarentee you will feel a hell of a lot better.
  • Think about your problems with a positive spin - Trust me! For example
  1. Car Problems? - I have a car
  2. Work problems? - I have a job
  3. Friend problems? - They love me really, I love them too... this will be resolved! I also learn how I really feel about them!
  4. Money Problems? - Learn how to save & find more creative ways to spend time & have fun!
  5. Did something stupid? - I leaned a valuable lesson not to be repeated!
  • It sounds harsh but majority of the time someone else has it worse off than - you try not to forget that!!
  • Finally as hard as it seems just keep swimming! Keep working your way towards whatever it is - moving slowly is 100 times better than not moving at all!!

I feel like there comes points in our life where we have to stop take a look around and go right it may take some time but I can do this!! I cant leave whatever this is get the better of me!! It can and will be fixed!! Cliche as it is life is a journey & from all our experiences both good & bad we grow!! Keep fighting, hustling, moving & swimming and soon you will feel like you are #winningatlife. Will it be easy? No but the best things in life never are & IT WILL BE WORTH IT!!!

Bye bye my lovelies!!!
Loves you all x

Organisation Month - A Life of List making!!

Hey There,

Welcome Back!! Show of hands who here is a slave to list making!? Brilliant, Im not the only one. For me, list making and completing is incredibly satisfying for a number of reasons.

Once its on the paper its out of my head or at least straightened out. Sometimes when you are thinking about 101 things that you have to do at the same time the simple task of putting it on paper can make everything seem calmer and more organised. Just giving it a structure can do wonders for head. Another reason is because it can keep you motivated to get the items checked which makes you more productive meaning you are less likely to start a job and the leave half way through and start another one leaving you with a load of half finished jobs that you now have to go back and finish!

Here are my little tips on list making -

There are different types of lists you can make and my recommendation is that you do atleast one of them

  • Monthly Overview - What does your month look like? Any important dates to remember?
  • Weekly Overview - Any important dates / appointments? Any important tasks to be completed?
  • Daily To-Do list - All the tasks you want/ to get completed by the end of the day

I usually do all three (not so much the weekly one sometimes, apart from weekly finances) but it has now become part of my routine. If you know all the things that have to be done you now have a better idea of how your week is going to look & how much free time you will have for other things that you want to do. You are also more likely to feel better now that you know all the things that absolutely have to be done are going to be taken care of!!

Categorize your lists

What is the point in having lists if they are as mixed up and messy as they are when they are in your head!?

I like to Categorise them into
  • To-do
  • Finances
  • blogging
  • social

Even then I kind categorise my To-do sometimes, but there is no need to be that extreme that is just what I like to do.

This way you can take a look at it and know where you are and what to do next. You can also add to and make changes to your list at any time.

Prioritize

Sometimes we have so much to do there isnt enough time in the day. instead of freaking out (I have a tendency to do this on the odd occasion) just prioritize & move some things around. Your List = Your Rules.

Use the list!

Yes this might seem obvious but sometimes we make the list and feel productive then never go back and look at it again (guilty of this myself) but why bother making it if your never going to use it. You can add a motivational element to it. For example something as simple as check boxes that are so satisfying to check off when a task is completed or a treat at the end of the day when your list is complete, which ever works best for you!!!

Thats my little bit of advice for list making! I hope it was helpful!!

Are you a list maker!?
Do you have any tips of tricks!?
